Project report:

The second training course of the project “Young Active Europeans” was held in Krzyzowa, Poland in February 2017. This place had been chosen because of its importance for European history and also activism. It is very important for Polish-German relationship and you can find the exhibition dedicated to this topic right in the youth center, where we were accommodated. There were over 30 participants from 12 European countries, especially Balkan countries. The main goal of the project was to explore and discuss the idea of youth social and political activism. Through non-formal education methods we were promoting European citizenship and also had some practical exercise about citizens’ rights.

More than half of us were participated already in the first training course. We shared our experiences from first TC in Serbia with our new colleagues and quickly get to work together. There were few sessions promoting and focusing on our soft skills as a key to youth engagement and social and political activism. Also we were trying to find out our weak skills and find the method how to work on it to turn it into our strong skills. We used the method of Wheel of Life to find out how we feel about different aspects of our life at the moment. According to me this exercise devoted to development of our practical skills was very useful and helped many of us to improve ourselves. The most practical session according to me was the small European parliament discussion on the topic of refugees, when each group represented one political party and their position to this topic. We were working in groups many times, as well as we had open discussions. There was also presentation about Erasmus+ that was very nice structured and understandable. Very enjoyable and motivating was the last session where we had to create the idea and structure of some project that would be possible to organize. All five groups came up with really reasonable and viable ideas of the projects.

To sum it up, it was great project with awesome people in very nice location of a small village and perfect facility of the biggest youth center in Poland. I am happy I was part of this entire project and learn many new things in the field or European citizenship and youth activism, but also I learnt a lot about myself.
