Popis ESC příležitosti

Creativity, support, fun – inclusion!

The focus of this project is on inclusion: through the planned activities, the volunteers will develop a deeper understanding of inclusion of people with disabilities and discover together how inclusion can be lived in everyday life.
The project aims to raise awareness of the everyday struggles of people with disabilities and at the same time make their abilities visible.

PROCEDURE

  • The first three days are dedicated to getting in the mood and preparing together
  • The second week focuses on creativity . You are invited to visualize your ideas of inclusion with murals or graffiti and to leave your artistic mark in Luxembourg.
  • In the third week you are invited to work directly with people with disabilities. You will work in different facilities and support the employees there in everyday life. You could make a difference!
  • In the last week you are invited to plan and carry out activities yourself: Do It Yourself!

During the 4 weeks you will also have the opportunity to explore Luxembourg on your own.

The team volunteering project is carried out by the Luxembourg National Youth Service (Service National de la Jeunesse – SNJ).

THE MAIN FOCUS OF THIS PROJECT IS INCLUSION

Through planned activities, the participants will learn the understanding of inclusion of people with disabilities is and how it can be lived.

The project means to raise awareness about the everyday struggles of people with disabilities, but also about the capacities they still have. Another aim of this project is getting to know Luxembourg and discovering our shared European values through artistic activities.

IMPACT ON SOCIETY

The project offers a learning ground of European cultures to a young person or a group so that they can step back from everyday life, enjoy  Luxembourg and take concrete actions. The project is intending to give the opportunity to a team of young people to experience community life, team working and solidarity in the frame of a volunteering-team-activity in Luxembourg.

TASKS OF THE VOLUNTEERS

The first three days will be dedicated to an on-arrival training. The second week, the focus is on creativity. Through creating art, participants are invited to leave a trace of them in Luxembourg and also to visualise their ideas of inclusion and how we are connected, even though we come from different cultures. In the third week, the participants will have the chance to work with people with disabilities. They will work in diverse institutions and support the staff members on a daily basis. After that in the fourth week, volunteers are invited to plan and implement activities themselves. During the 4 weeks, the participants will also have the opportunity to discover our small country on their own, by small chores they are invited to do.

TASKS & SCHEDULE

The schedule of the 4 weeks will be handed to the participants during the on-arrival training. Weekends are free to explore on their own.

PARTICIPANT’S PROFILE

The participants must have a basic level of English and should be autonomous enough to live on their own for most of the time. They should be open minded and not have any fear of contact with different groups of people. Since the participants will be hosted in three different youth hostels, they should be flexible to move around a lot and make use of the free public transport.

Participants should be motivated to invest their time, knowledge and competences in the foreseen project. Plus, since the project offers a variety of different activities, they should be open to a different time schedule every week and contribute to the organization of the week by sharing their own ideas. In short, the requested competences/skills : creativity, open to learn new things, autonomy and basic English skills.
