Project report:
Our project took place on the shore of Lake Balaton, in Balatonszárszó. We were 6 in our Czech group, other participating nationalities were Georgians, Bosnians and Turks. The aim of the project was to improve digital literacy and to help keep track with recently emerging digital tools. The most discussed topic was Artificial Intelligence and ways of deployment as well as its current limitations.
The activities took place from Thursday to Wednesday. Every day we had different interactive sessions from lunch to dinner. Our facilitator, Tako, guided us through the whole week with unstopping enthusiasm and when the general mood seemd to decrease she offered some fun energizer to enlighten us. Evenings were dedicated to cultural nights, for these we merged with other two projects that took place at the same location and presented our cultures, traditional ongs, dances and fun facts. Others liked dancing ‚mazurka‘ and we, on the other hand, got to taste Georgian ‚tklapi‘, bosnian ‚rakija‘ and learned the Turkish ‚tuk tuk‘ dance. Hungarians also taught us basic phrases for everyday life.
As for our project, he first day was dedicated to getting to know people, learning names, discussing our background and motivation to participate. Starting from the second day we began focusing on the actual topic of the project and there were various activities and tasks, some of them in national groups, others in mixed groups. We loved that every time you got to work with different people. On Sunday during our free day almost everybody went to Budapest to discover its beauty and historical monuments.
One of the best activities during the whole week was preparing an interactive workshop for other participants. Our Czech group prepared a ‚Programming without Programming‘ workshop and others were supposed to write a prompt for ChatGPT to create a code that does what it’s supposed to. Other activities included a discussion simulation on the topic of ethical dilemmas connected to the use od AI in everyday life. The final and biggest project was inventing and presenting a digital product that would be beneficial for the society with consideration of financial (zajištění), specifying our target group, developing detailed aspects of the solution also creating a mock-up of the product’s interface. Each group‘s results were amazing, all the proposed ideas were very interesting and presented in an attractive way – everybody was amazed what we were able to invent – teamwork is powerful!
The general highlight of the project was the facility where it took place. It provided enough options how to enjoy our stay, including a direct access to lake Balaton, equipped common rooms, bikes and, above all, the tastiest food we could imagine! We concluded the project by jumping into the Balaton lake, which we found very refreshing in mid- November.
It was a great and unforgettable experience and thanks to EYCB for giving us a chance to be there ♡
