Project report:

The project To Differ Beautifully is a True Art was focused on getting to know history and culture of Roma people to prevent discrimination. We learned about them through creating presentations about their situations in different countries, visiting local Roma Museum and creating theatre performance about history of their way of nomadic life.

Even though this Youth Exchange wasn’t that intensive in terms of prepared activities, each activity gave me something useful, like during preparing presentations in international teams – cooperation and trying to understand each other in English.

During the project my English skills increased, especially in terms of communication and way of thinking in foreign language. Also, this experience taught me about not judging others before I met them, not judging myself and enjoy the moments with people without prejudices.

What I enjoyed the most was doing theatre performance for Roma children in refuge house. The play was about Roma family and it was a silent illustration of their history of nomadic life, discrimination and culture. We tried to capture it through Roma dances, songs and their dress style. I think that it was really enjoyable and meaningful for those children.

During our free time we could visit famous Thermal baths in Chochołów. It was a really great opportunity to have a relaxing evening with others. The day after the most of us took a hike to mountain Turbacz with altitude 1310 m in the western Beskids.

Overall, I’m glad that I took this opportunity to go to this project, I met some amazing people there and created good memories with them. I learned how is important to learn and understand the history and culture of others, especially of minorities, to prevent discrimination.

If you hesitate to go to Erasmus project, I assure you, don’t think about it much and let dive yourself into unknown – it’s definitely worth it!
