Project report:
This Erasmus+ training course in the sunny town of Mollina was my very first international project of this kind—and definitely not my last! “Connecting Paths: Youth Wellbeing and Cooperation” brought together passionate youth workers and volunteers from across Europe to explore the topic of mental health and cooperation through creative and experiential learning.
Throughout the week, we dived into interactive sessions, reflection exercises, and artistic methods that allowed us to connect both with others and ourselves. From blindfolded painting to clay sculpting of our emotions, the course offered unique ways to approach the topic of emotional wellbeing. Although the program wasn’t as academically demanding as I initially expected, I deeply appreciated the group dynamics, openness, and the space for personal interpretation.
The venue—CEULAJ—was a true oasis for learning, with a great campus atmosphere, comfortable accommodation, and a beautiful Andalusian setting. The food was healthy and delicious, with kind kitchen staff always ready to adapt meals to our dietary needs. Sadly, the coffee didn’t match the level of the cuisine, but we survived.
One of the highlights for me was our trip to Antequera—a historical town that felt like a hidden gem. I probably would have never visited this UNESCO heritage site otherwise. In addition to official activities, we also enjoyed informal moments, like our karaoke nights in the local bar, where we sang international hits and strengthened our cross-cultural friendships.
What I valued the most was the opportunity to practice my Spanish, meet inspiring peers (especially from Slovakia!), and reflect on how to bring more emotional intelligence and wellbeing practices into my work with youth. The atmosphere was warm and collaborative, largely thanks to Aida and the organizing team, who were always smiling and genuinely invested in making the experience meaningful for everyone.
I’m grateful I could extend my stay in Spain for two extra days—exploring Málaga and witnessing the incredible Semana Santa (Holy Week) processions gave my trip a truly unforgettable ending.
This project reminded me that mental wellbeing is not just a topic to discuss—it’s something we should live and nurture every day. I’m coming home with new tools, fresh motivation and friendships that don’t end with the project.
