Project report:

Hello! Welcome to Italy – more specifically, to Recoaro Terme!

I, along with five colleagues (and after the time we spent together, I can happily say friends), went on a journey to the beautiful region of northern Italy – the Veneto region. This intensive program took place from the 16th to the 23rd of May and turned out to be truly fruitful.

The participants were very diverse. Besides the Czech team, which was the largest, there were teams from France, Spain, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania, and Estonia – and of course, our wonderful facilitators from Hungary, Mara and Endy.

The project was focused on topics such as democracy, discrimination, and empowering youth workers for social impact – in fact, that was the actual name of the project. The first day was entirely dedicated to getting to know each other, and it turned out that we formed a really great team – something truly special.

Throughout the following days, participants had the chance to learn about and discuss important issues such as discrimination, politics and young people, as well as fundamental laws within the EU and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The entire experience was very impactful, which was reflected in the final activity: by the end of the course, we were able to organize one-hour workshops in small groups, proving that we had truly learned something valuable.

Despite the demanding schedule, we even got a free afternoon – a well-deserved break – which allowed us to explore the beauty of northern Italy. Some of us went hiking in the mountains, others visited nearby cities, and some simply used the time to rest and recharge.

The whole week was a success – everything went smoothly, the cooperation was amazing, and we learned a lot not just from our facilitators, but from each other as well. Now, we feel empowered to help others – even those who might not yet realize they need help.

On behalf of the whole Czech team, I can say we are truly grateful for this opportunity. We hope to meet the others again, continue our work together, and strengthen the friendships we’ve built.
