Project report:

Our adventure started in Trbovlje, a small town surrounded by green hills. From the 20th to the 26th of August, we took part in the youth exchange “Rhythm of Culture”, together with participants from the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Greece, and Spain. In total, four cultures came together for five unforgettable days full of creativity, fun, and friendship.

The main aim of the project was to explore how art and traditions can connect people from different backgrounds. Through workshops and intercultural activities, we learned about each other’s cultures, expressed our own identity, and discovered how creativity can become a universal language that reduces prejudice and brings people closer together.

Many of the workshops were prepared and led by participants themselves, which gave the whole exchange a very personal touch. We tried calligraphy, experimented in a clay workshop, and even designed clothes decorated with traditional patterns from our countries. At the end of the exchange, we organized a public exhibition, where we proudly presented everything we had created. These activities helped us develop practical skills such as teamwork, creative problem-solving and communication, which are essential not only for future projects but also for everyday life.

One of the highlights was our intercultural breakfast. Each country presented a typical morning meal, and we could taste a variety of flavors from across Europe. It was a delicious way to experience cultural diversity in practice and, of course, to enjoy a proper feast together.

The last day of the project took us to a local farm, where we enjoyed outdoor activities such as petting horses, making fire, shooting, and in the evening sharing stories around a campfire. It was a wonderful way to strengthen the friendships we had built during the week.

Looking back, we can say that the project fulfilled its goals in many ways. We fostered intercultural understanding and tolerance, learned to appreciate both the similarities and differences between our cultures, and improved our linguistic and cultural skills by communicating in English and sharing knowledge across borders. At the same time, we expressed our creativity through art while building confidence in public presentation and teamwork, and we created strong friendships and networks that may serve as a basis for future cooperation and joint initiatives.

To sum it up, Rhythm of Culture was not just about learning artistic techniques, it was about connecting cultures, making friendships and realizing that young people can be active citizens who bring positive change to their communities. We are grateful to everyone who made this project possible and we take home not only new skills, but also unforgettable memories and inspiration for the future.
