Venue: Paralimni, Cyprus

Hosting organisation: NECI Cyprus
Project report:
“SKILL – Strengthening Key Competences in Lifelong Learning”: 1 acronym, 8 days, 19 youth workers, 10 countries, and an endless experience..
During the training course, we focused on the main challenges youth workers are facing today. We tried to find what we have in common, shared our experiences, and listened carefully to each other. Active listening and open discussions helped us suggest possible solutions and learn from different perspectives.
During this training, we have learned more about non-formal education, intercultural dialogue, and social inclusion. Workshops, teamwork, discussions, and practical activities – these were just some of the methods we used throughout the course. After discussing the theory, we put it all into practice. We worked in international teams, created educational activities, and later implemented them with school students.
After intensive days, we also had the chance to relax during intercultural evenings and learn more about other countries through what connects us most: food and drinks.
One of the soft skills I appreciated the most was communication. I realised how essential it is to listen to each other, respect different opinions, and build mutual understanding. Respect and empathy are key in youth work. I am truly grateful for this experience and apply the knowledge gained in my daily work.
