Project report:
Hei! Velkommen til Norge! Welcome to a world of wild beauty, meaningful connection and personal growth.
It was a great opportunity to take part in the Erasmus+ training course about scandinavian outdoor education, which took place from June 30 to July 9, 2025, in the breathtaking surroundings of Rysta Gård, a magical farm hidden in the Sunnmøre Alps. Our group included passionate youth workers from across Europe – each of us bringing our own stories, experiences and curiosity into this shared adventure.
From the very first moment, the Norwegian landscape became both our classroom and playground. We cooked outdoors, built fires, learned to navigate with maps, hiked up rocky peaks, and spent multiple night under the open sky, falling asleep with the sounds of nature around us. But this project wasn’t just about surviving outside – it was about discovering how nature can become a teacher and a source of resilience, both for us and for the young people we work with.
One of the most meaningful moments was the inclusive day we spent with a local group of individuals with disabilities. Together, we created a space where everyone felt welcome and engaged.
Throughout the project, we worked as a team to co-create an “infokit” – a practical tool we can now take home and use in our own youth organizations. It contains ideas, games, safety tips, and reflections that will help us bring the spirit of this experience to others. In that sense, this project doesn’t end with our return – it lives on in our work and the lives we touch.
Thanks to the excellent facilitators, the supportive group atmosphere, and the powerful environment of Norway itself, I leave this experience stronger, more grounded, and full of fresh ideas. I’ve learned that outdoor education is not just about trekking or survival – it’s about learning to trust yourself, to work with others, and to use nature as a space for growth, healing and joy.
To sum it all up: if nature is the greatest teacher, then this project was a truly unforgettable lesson.
Thank you to every person who made this possible – organizers, partners, and fellow participants. You made the wild feel like home.
