Project report:

«Theatre is a form of knowledge; it should and can also be a means of transforming society. Theatre can help us build our future, rather than just waiting for it.» – Augusto Boal –

Dear everyone! 🙂 We have just came from a beautiful area of Rhones Alps where we have spent a wonderful week of Theatre playing. Let’s talk about it! 😉

What was a special about that project?

This project was a training course, organised by Détours d’Ailleurs and funded by the Erasmus+ programme, focused on the Theatre of the Oppressed. The Theatre of the Oppressed consisted in learning the theatre’s techniques like Image Theatre, Forum Theatre, Invisible Theatre, role of the Joker, theatrical improvisation, etc. The project was realized in a pure nature of Rhone Alpes, out of the civilization, out of internet connection, out of light polution…

Why have we focused on an oppression?

Because an oppression is a big topic which can be every day in our life. One of our task was to speak with the public about it and ask to them about the experiences with the oppression in their life. How open-minded are the french people! 🙂 These experiences were used for a creation of group final performance.

What about the group of the participants?

The all of the group have been wonderful people. We have had such fun during the training course. We have been so incredibly connected during the sessions. Full of energy, concentrated, organized…that was our international group. 🙂

What was the aim of the training course?

Firstly, we should probably say – the final performance open to the public, our whole-week‘s work. But after time, it is mostly the proccess, the way that we have done. During the training course we have learnt a lot. Of course, we have learnt some skills about the theatre. We have met the new friends. We have learnt how to spent a time in an international group. But the most important thing that the training course could bring to us, is: We could learnt to getting to know ourself. Because we have spent 12 days in an intercultural community with an energetic people without internet connection in a pure nature of Rnone Alpes.

It was absolutely worth it!!
