Project report:

Last week, we had the amazing opportunity to join an Erasmus+ project in the beautiful coastal city of Alanya, Turkey. Participants from six countries—Turkey, Macedonia, Germany, Romania, Spain, and the Czech Republic—came together to explore the power of photography in breaking stereotypes, promoting cultural connections, and embracing diversity.

The project was not just about taking pictures; it was about telling stories. Each of us was part of a group, and we received a specific photography theme, such as Unity in Diversity, Breaking Stereotypes, or Traditions Meet Modernity. Our assignment was to capture moments in the bustling local bazaar that reflected our themes. Whether it was the vibrant colours of spices, the craftsmanship of traditional goods, or the friendly faces of the vendors, the bazaar offered a rich tapestry of life and culture.

One of the most memorable parts of the experience was meeting the locals. Despite the language barriers, their warmth and kindness created an environment where we felt welcome. Their stories, smiles, and everyday routines brought our themes to life and helped us understand the culture of Alanya on a deeper level.

As a group, we reflected on how photography helped us notice details we might have otherwise overlooked. It taught us to approach new perspectives with curiosity and respect, reminding us that diversity enriches communities.

The week was not only about honing our photography skills but also about forming connections that crossed cultural boundaries. We shared our photos, thoughts, and stories with each other, learning to appreciate the value of inclusivity and social connection.

This Erasmus+ project was an unforgettable journey—not just to Alanya, but into the heart of cultural diversity. We left inspired to use creativity and understanding to challenge stereotypes and build bridges between people from all walks of life.
