Project report:
I recently had the opportunity to participate in a week-long training course titled “Rural Youth Work Development,“ which took place near the town of Širvintos in Lithuania. The course brought together participants from nine different countries, creating a rich and diverse environment for learning and exchange.
One of the highlights of the project was the cultural evening organized by local residents, where we had the chance to experience Lithuanian culture firsthand. Additionally throughout the week, we interacted with participants from other countries, learning about their cultures, languages, perspectives, and challenges related to rural youth work. These exchanges were incredibly enriching and broadened our understanding of the topic.
As part of the program, we visited a local youth center, where we were introduced to their activities and projects aimed at supporting young people in rural areas. The project’s primary goal was to provide insights into youth work in rural communities, explore the challenges faced by residents in these areas, and discuss potential solutions. We also learned how to organize our own projects and activities for young people, which was both practical and inspiring. One particularly engaging activity was recording a podcast, intended to serve as an informational resource about the project’s theme.
After the official program concluded, I had also the chance to spend two additional days traveling. I used this time to explore Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, and even managed to visit Riga, the capital of neighboring Latvia. These visits added an extra layer of cultural and personal enrichment to the experience.
Overall, the course was highly enjoyable and beneficial. It provided valuable knowledge, practical skills, and the opportunity to build connections with people from across Europe. I am very grateful for this opportunity and the insights it offered.
