Project report:
Our adventure began right at Prague Airport, where the Czech team gathered for the first time. From the very start, the atmosphere was full of laughter, chatting, and the excitement of getting to know each other. The flight to Milan passed quickly, and upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Tizziano, the director of the hosting organization, and his colleague. They kindly drove us to the project venue – the beautifully renovated monastery La Scala di Giacobbe – where the “Greenhoper” magic truly began.
Once there, we had a short tour of the premises and settled into our rooms, mostly grouped by nationality. The monastery had a wonderful atmosphere, blending historical charm with modern comfort – a perfect setting for a project focused on sustainability and connection with nature.
Each day followed a well-planned schedule, slightly adapted to the weather, as many activities took place outdoors. Our mornings started at 8:30 with breakfast until 9:15, followed by the first activity block (9:30–11:00). Throughout the week, these sessions included ice-breaking games and environmental workshops that helped us reflect on our personal relationship with nature. After a 30-minute coffee break (with cookies, of course!), we continued with the second activity block (11:30–13:00). On the first day, we visited Cuggiono, a lovely nearby town, and on the following days, we took part in creative sessions full of art, teamwork, and eco-project ideas.
Lunches and dinners were absolutely delicious, prepared by the volunteer team. The meals were mostly Italian dishes with a European twist, always made with love. After lunch came a short rest period, followed by the last activity block (15:00–16:30 or sometimes until 17:30), focused on teamwork and daily reflections.
Two evenings were dedicated to Intercultural Nights, where participants presented traditional food, snacks, and drinks from their countries. The Czech team added a fun activity – teaching everyone to dance polka and mazurka, which became a big hit! One day was completely free for personal discovery – participants could visit Milan, Turin, or even the Alps, enjoying a day full of adventure and culture.
Overall, Greenhoper was an amazing youth exchange full of joy, creativity, and inspiration. We learned a lot about sustainability, teamwork, and ourselves. We left Italy with new knowledge, new friends, and unforgettable memories that will stay with us for a long time.
