Project report:
This May I’ve participated on Erasmus+ training course for youth workers named The Inner Voice and located near Waterford city in southern Ireland.
There were 14 participants from 20 to 50 years old with a different experience in youth work and also from various countries – Belgium, Estonia, Latvia, Bulgaria, Spain, Cyprus, Ireland and finally Czechia.
The first day we were warmly welcomed by the two trainers – Joris and Kristina and also from the local Irish organiser Declan. The accommodation was a local community centre building located directly on a beach, so we´ve spent a lot of time outside, during the activities and our free time enjoying the calming sounds of the waves.
The aim of the project was to learn about our inner and outer voice and how to apply it in our work with young people back home.
Every day there was little theoretical introduction to the topic and then we would always play some games or do some practical activities to experience it on our own and learn better from it.
We also discussed youth work in our countries, different approaches to it and also what are the biggest struggles young people face and how to become good coaches to support them.
To give our minds a break and to immerse ourselves better into Irish culture and country, we´ve had multiple little trips around.
The first one took us to the beautiful waterfall in the Comeraigh mountains and to a very windy beach close to it. As we were in Ireland, it was no surprise that it was raining the whole time, so we got a full local experience of it. After that we spent a nice time in a local pub and got ourselves dry and warm.
We´ve also had time in the old Viking city of Waterford and then we´ve had a lovely (also very windy) walk around the cliffs and the wild Atlantic ocean.
I enjoyed the whole project very much, I´ve learnt much new about youth work, I’ve made new friends around Europe and got to know the beautiful green country of Ireland.
I would recommend anyone to go on a project like this, it is an experience you will never forget!
