Project report:

Once upon a time in an Italian town Bisceglie there were 30 people who have gathered together to participate in an Erasmus+ training course called Behind the Reality. The training happened between 1st and 9th December 2018 and it involved 1-3 people from 10 participating countries: Czech Republic, Poland, Latvia, Malta, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium and Croatia. We all were in good hands of our trainers from Ukraine – Emir and Marko.

The aim of this gathering was for youth workers to discover an unusual way of non-formal education through using escape rooms.

In the first half of the training we got to know each other and talked about topics like human rights or critical thinking. Then we shared stories about these human rights issues from our countries: domestic violence, gender inequality, children rights.

In the second half of the training we were divided into 3 groups and had one day and a half to prepare 3 different escape rooms in this topic which had educational purposes. In the end of the training we hosted an open event where people from the city and hosting organization could come and enjoy one evening playing and solving our escape rooms.

We had so much fun in Italy. We got to know different cultures by talking to each other and enjoying intercultural evening and we also learned new tool for education that can be useful for us in the future. If I would have to choose to go, I would definitely go for it. The organization by the hosting organization, trainers and sending organization EYCB was amazing. Ciao Italy, see you soon!
