Project report:

Project “Breaking Barriers for Common Europe” that lasted eight days took place in Dilijan in the north of Armenia. Altogether 30 young people from 10 (mainly eastern European) countries took part in it.

During six days full of activities we had a great opportunity to discuss different perceptions of citizenship in general as well as of its European dimension, values that are important for people from different countries and thus get to know their cultures. In order to learn about the current situation between EU and Eastern Partnership countries the project’s programme included two interesting expert inputs: one on the subject of the EU engagement in different processes with neighbouring countries and the other about the role of EU on South Caucasus. One activity block has been dedicated to getting to know the Youth in Action programme in more detail which we have appreciated a lot. The theoretical part has been followed by a practical workshop in preparing a draft of future project with our new partners.

Thanks to a fact that activities were based on sharing ideas and active group-work we created a good team spirit and became real friends with all of the participants.

Though the seminar schedule was quite tight, we had enough time to discover Armenia (or at least some parts of it) and its fascinating culture. During a one-day trip to Yerevan we first stopped to visit beautiful and very old Sevan monastery on Lake Sevan. In Yerevan then we visited all the most important sights of the city (Opera House, Cascade, National History Museum, Museum of the Armenian Genocide, Surp Grigor Lusavorich Cathedral etc.)
