Project report:
Hi everyone!
In this short report, I’d like to share with you our great adventure during a youth exchange in Ommen.
First, I’d like to introduce our Czech group, which consisted of six members: Tomáš, Honza, Kristý, Dani, Petra, and Vojta. Besides us, there were five other nationalities taking part in the project – from Latvia, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Romania.
The first day of activities was all about getting to know the place and meeting the other participants. We did various ice-breaking activities and had a lot of fun. In the following days, we focused more on the project’s topic, deepened our knowledge, and even learned how to build a raft.
The highlight of the entire program came when we all set off on a five-day outdoor adventure. But hold on – it wasn’t just any outdoor trip. Throughout the adventure, we were split into groups of five. For the first two days, we had to survive without money, food, or phones.
My group received an envelope containing train tickets and the address of a farm we had to get to. We managed to complete the task and arrived at the farm, where a kind man gave us a tour. After that, we were allowed to open another envelope, which brought a surprise – we had to find a place to sleep. Luckily, the man and his wife helped us out and arranged accommodation in a barn with a very lovely couple.
The same thing happened the next day. This time we had to hitchhike and reach the town of Holten, where we found accommodation with a very kind lady – and guess what? We even slept in real beds!
The following day, we received bikes and reunited with the other groups. We visited a Canadian war cemetery and rode through a national park. The next day, we had to make our way to a campsite in the town of Raalte, and finally, on the last day, we returned back to Ommen.
Overall, I would rate the whole program, accommodation, and food with the highest score – a straight A. If you’re thinking about going on an Erasmus+ project at Olde Vechte, don’t hesitate – you definitely won’t regret it!
