Project report: More in Common – Wales, United Kingdom

ᵢHello! Welcome to United Kingdom! Welcome to the world full of happy people, fun, friendship and honesty. It was my pleasure to travel to north Wales (lake Llyn Tegid in Snowdonia national park) with three other Czech people on the 6th December. We were really excited about the project “More in common” that ended on the 13st August. There were people from countries: the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Croatia, Hungary, Malta, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Estonia, Lithuania, United Kingdom a one from the hosting country: United Kingdom.

Thanks to the perfect preparation and organization of our leaders – Morgane, Sheila and Leila we were able to create a wonderful team without any single mistake! During a lot of activities we got to know each other better and better and thanks to many group works, we were able to cooperate quite easily. We were dealing, for example with understanding of multitude different cultural differences held within Europe, from international to local, from small groups to individual. We are made from many aspects of different identities, but we have more in common, than we think. We had funny activities to break down stereotypes related to nations aesthetic and religion by exploring our own identifying aspects. Many activities allowed us to practice English and move our level a little bit higher! We gained better understanding politics, beliefs, creativity, food, clothing, shelter, economics work and hobbies. Moreover, we experienced quite a lot from British vital culture – trip to dam Llyn Celin, great British food, drinks and we had a lot of opportunities to explore the city of Manchester including the amazing Arts gallery, Industrial technical museum, concert or football game of most rich and famous football club on the word Manchester United.

Considering it all in all, this project had something special in itself. Everything was so calm, pretty and amazing, like somewhere in the dream. What is glorious is the cooperation between nations, realizing that the discrimination and prejudices are things, which come from insufficient mutual getting to know. During the project, the trainers have created the functional windmill and beautiful mirror each of us. For all of us this was only the beginning. Now, when we are back home we can try to realize our ideas and be happy if any of them will come true. We can start with creating a lot of beautiful things or we can use education as the most powerful weapon to change the world. Everything is up to us!

To sum it up, if there is no EYCB as the great group allowing a lot of people to do amazing things EYCB would have to be invented! Thank a lot every single person allowing these projects to happen!
