Project report:

Cześć, witamy w Polsce! Hello, welcome to Poland! At 17th July I and 5 other members of Czech team set off on a journey to Poland (Wojnicz) to participate in a project called NextGen: Future Leaders for Active Community Participation. In Wojnicz we met 6 our neighbours from Germany, 6 participants from Lithuania and 6 members/organizators from the Polish team. These people became dear to us for the following days and at 25th July it felt uneasy to say goodbye.

The topic of this project was concerned with youth participation in society. Every day consisted of three sessions covering this topic from diverse angles. We discussed certain words and their meanings, made videos about problems in society, learned to act as a team in outdoor activities, constructed “mini theatre plays” and designed how our own youth council would look like.

Throughout the project, everyone participated in their own way, which made our team vivid and rich as a whole. We learned that each and every one of us was a facilitator responsible for the outcomes and experiences. No one felt left out, everyone felt comfortable presenting their own unique self.

On fourth day we had a half-day trip to Tarnów, where we attended a lecture about local youth council and its activities. On the fifth day, we visited Kraków, the third largest city in Poland. Everyone was free to spend that day in a way that suited them most.

In the end, we all were a bit different from our former selves, another step forward in exploring who we are, what our strengths are and what role we have in society. I would like to thank on behalf of our whole group the hosting organization (Fundacja Ornament), EYCB and all participants that made this inspiring project possible.

Thank you and keep in mind that every experience is shaped by what we put into it; the more we engage, the more it gives back.
