Project report:

From October 27th to November 7th, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the “Make Your Own Youth Exchange” project in the vibrant town of Benicassim, Spain. Along with 25 other participants from Spain, Italy, Romania, Greece, and the Czech Republic, we gathered to dive into a unique experience focused on leadership, youth exchange development, and cultural exchange.

Our days began with exploring essential qualities for a facilitator and discovering what makes a youth exchange program both effective and impactful. Through interactive discussions and collaborative workshops, we learned about communication, engagement, and creating inclusive spaces—skills crucial for any youth leader.

One of the highlights was that each of us had a chance to organize a half-day session on a theme of our choice. These sessions ranged across topics such as social equality, education, sports, and mental health, allowing everyone to bring their ideas and passions into the group. Planning and leading these activities not only developed our leadership skills but also brought us closer as a team, helping us learn about each other’s perspectives and backgrounds.

Our free day brought an unexpected twist! Unfortunately, bad weather meant that we couldn’t venture out to explore as much as planned. We encountered everything from sunny, warm days to intense storms, even facing flood warnings and a temporary lockdown due to high risks of floods and possible tornadoes. It was an adventure in itself, reminding us of the importance of flexibility and resilience.

Despite the weather challenges, this youth exchange project was full of unforgettable moments, new friendships, and growth. We enjoyed every bit of it and came home inspired and ready to apply what we learned to make positive changes in our own communities.

Thank you to everyone who made this incredible project possible!
