Project report:
From June 3 to 11, young people from the Czech Republic, Portugal, Spain, Romania and Italy came together in Mollina, Spain, to take part in Pathways to the Future—a youth exchange focused on inclusion, resilience and youth development. Through a rich and diverse program, participants explored key topics such as employability, social integration of disadvantaged groups, and the personal and professional growth of young people in today’s Europe.
The week took place at CEULAJ, a well-equipped venue ideal for youth exchanges. The program was designed to combine non-formal education, creativity, self-reflection and cultural exchange in a dynamic and interactive way.
We started the project with icebreakers, name games and team challenges that helped us get to know each other and break the initial barriers. Activities like “Mission Impossible” and “Youthpass Bingo” set the tone for an open and collaborative atmosphere. The following day, we explored what employability means to us through photography and storytelling, followed by personal mind maps where we reflected on our skills, experiences and aspirations. One of the most engaging parts of the day was a life value auction, where we had to bid on abstract concepts like happiness, love, success or freedom—leading to some very meaningful conversations.
Mid-week, we focused on diversity, inclusion and the challenges that come with them. We discussed the European Youth Goals, created short videos on topics such as discrimination and equal opportunities, and brainstormed ideas for local projects that could have a real impact in our own communities. An interactive simulation game called “The Island” helped us reflect on how different social backgrounds and systems of privilege affect people’s opportunities.
Halfway through the week, we took a break from workshops and spent a day in the beautiful town of Antequera. The trip gave us a chance to explore local culture, relax and enjoy some time together outside of the training environment.
The following days offered space for creativity and youth leadership through open space sessions—participant-led workshops on topics of their choice. We covered everything from mental well-being and personal growth to creative expression. Another highlight of the program was the visit to a local winery and olive oil factory, where we learned about traditional Andalusian production and enjoyed a tasting session. Back at CEULAJ, participants continued to lead their own workshops, sharing skills and experiences across cultures.
On the final day, we wrapped up the learning process with a practical workshop on writing effective CVs, and spent time reflecting on what we had learned, how we had grown, and what we would take away from the experience. A final evaluation and closing circle gave everyone the chance to express their thoughts, gratitude, and say goodbye.
Evenings throughout the week were dedicated to intercultural nights, where each national team introduced their country through food, games, traditions and music. These nights became a joyful celebration of diversity and connection across cultures.
Thank you to Muévete por Europa for organizing such a meaningful and well-balanced exchange, and to EYCB for making it possible for the Czech team to take part. The project offered not only new skills and ideas, but also unforgettable moments and friendships that will last far beyond this week in Spain.
