Overview of the Project
The Puzzle of Diversity: Escape Room for Education was a 5day-long Erasmus+ training course that brought people from nine different countries to learn how to create educational escape rooms. The event took place in Ceuta, a Spanish city located in North Africa, from 20th to 26th October 2024.
Our Journey
Our experience began in Spain, where we visited an escape room together. It was a fun and challenging way to get inspired before the training. Then, we took a ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar to Ceuta. The ferry ride was exciting, and being in North Africa gave us a chance to explore Ceuta’s vibrant culture. We even visited the border between Spain and Morocco, where we spoke about the current situation and about thousands of people, who are trying to cross this border. This visit gave us a new understanding of the challenges of imigration.
Training and Activities
The training course was full of practical workshops where we learned how to design and run escape rooms. We explored how these games can be used to teach skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking. We learned step-by-step how to make puzzles, set up the rooms, and run them smoothly.
The best part was getting to create three different escape rooms with our fellow participants. We tested these rooms on each other, which was both fun and helpful for improving our designs. Finally, we opened our escape rooms to the public, and it was amazing to see people enjoying the challenges we had created.
Conclusion
The Puzzle of Diversity project was an incredible experience. We learned so much about creating educational escape rooms and got to meet and work with people from all over Europe. The project was a mix of cultural exploration, fun, and hands-on learning. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to try something creative and learn in a unique way! Thanks EYCB for this opportunity!
