Project report:

I´m Important Because I´m Myself – project about bullying which took place in small town called Mažeikiai in Lithuania from 25th to 31st October. There were five countries included in this project, namely: the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Finland, Bulgaria and Italy.

The goal of this project was to raise young people´s awareness and visibility in the field of bullying. The main age group was from 14 to 18 years old, which is, in my opinion, the most critical age for having troubles with bullying. We had really busy schedule during the whole week e.g. discussions about bullying, the main reason for become a bully, how people should help somebody who is bullied and our attention was fully concentrated on cyber bullying for the last two days of our project. Whole program was well prepared – we had chance to compare situation about bullying in our countries, in different activities we had been separated to different group. We were really productive and that was (for sure) because of the openness and real contribution of every single participant. Our week productive working ended with filming a short movie which should inform public about bullying and show kids that it is not the right thing to do. You can find it here: https://www.facebook.com/GVaikuPasaulis/videos/906554829399706/

Our cultural program was quite busy too. We had a chance to visit local prestigious high school, see local typical ornaments and how are they made. We visited a basketball game (basketball is number one sport in Lithuania) and also see a concert from local sing star. Gabriele and Gedville – two leaders of the organization which planned this project – took really great care of us.

I think that this project has real impact to everybody´s life. We all realized, that even calling somebody silly nickname, making fun behind somebody´s back or post a bad comment on social media means a lot and can have huge consequences.  This project definitely leads us to think about this stuff. A lot.
