Project report:

Hi, welcome to France! On August 2, we arrived in a coastal village in the southwestern part of France. To take part in the Social Theatre and Social Media project. This project was attended by 26 enthusiastic people from ten different countries. Thanks to Denis´s perfect preparation and the organization of our leaders José and Ze Pedro we managed to create a great team. During the activities and the many group work sessions we got to know each other and the next day we were able to work together completely seamlessly and formed an amazing team.

The main goal of the training course was to explore different ways of expressing ourselves, to reflect and understand these difficulties and also to find ways to influence the factors that lead to them. These understandings were achieved through a combination of theatre and informal approaches to learning. For example, using theatre and digital media to use social theatre methodology and digital media competencies to support youth work development, social inclusion, visibility and identity. The project involved a balanced mix of outdoor and indoor activities – by alternating between them it was easier to fully focus and recharge. We created videos and skits that reflected different social situations such as poverty, migration or gender inequality. Social theatre, improvisation or theatre of the oppressed allowed us to better understand these problems and find solutions. Another important element of our programme was storytelling. We learned how to effectively tell stories that appeal to emotions and convey important messages. Our stories covered a variety of social issues, whether it was the plight of refugees, discrimination or environmental issues.

Last but not least, we focused on practical solutions to social problems. Together we looked for ways in which we as individuals and as a group can contribute to positive changes in society. We discussed volunteering, activism and involvement in community projects.

We also explored Bidart in our free time and in the afternoon we went to the nearby
picturesque town of Hendaye, where we visited the local castle and went surfing.

The whole week was full of inspiration, new friendships and discussions. Erasmus+ opened
our eyes and showed us how we can work together for a better future.

Thank you to EYCB for making this amazing experience possible.
