ERASMUS+, Klíčová akce 1: training course
Dates: 9—20 January 2025
Venue: Niguelas, (Malaga – Granada), Spain
Czech team: 2 participants
Hosting organisation: Lernlabor Berlin
Project report:
We had an incredible experience in Spain, a country rich with sunshine, diverse rock formations, and unforgettable climbing adventures. Participating in the Climbing Erasmus Project allowed our Czech team to join other passionate climbers from across Europe to share knowledge, develop skills, and embrace the spirit of adventure.
Our journey began with great enthusiasm as we traveled to Spain, eager to face new challenges and learn from both the natural environment and one another. The project focused on developing the essential skills needed to climb outdoors, building trust within teams, and fostering international cooperation among young climbers. Additionally, we practiced Acro Yoga to improve balance and coordination, learned techniques for outdoor climbing, and gained hands-on experience in sculpting new climbing routes. Our team consisted of me and my friend Peter, working alongside participants from other European countries, creating a diverse and dynamic group.
Project Goals:
- Sculpting New Routes: We focused on learning how to establish new climbing routes, including responsible drilling and gluing techniques to ensure safety and sustainability.
- Enhancing Technical Skills: Through hands-on training sessions, we improved our rope management, belaying techniques, lead climbing, and self-rescue skills. This not only boosted our confidence but also ensured safety in challenging climbing situations.
- Cultural Exchange and Teamwork: The project provided a platform for cultural exchange, where we shared our climbing experiences, traditions, and values. Group activities and team challenges helped strengthen our cooperation and communication skills.
What We Learned:
- Drilling and Gluing Techniques: We had the opportunity to learn and practice responsible drilling and gluing methods, focusing on safety and sustainability in rock environments.
- Traditional Climbing Skills: We enhanced our skills in belaying, lead climbing, and rope management, which are crucial for safe outdoor climbing.
- Environmental Awareness: The project reinforced the importance of respecting nature, minimizing our environmental impact, and following Leave No Trace principles.
- Mountain Safety: We learned essential practices for behaving responsibly and safely in mountain environments, emphasizing risk assessment and preparedness.
Beyond the technical training, we enjoyed exploring the beautiful Spanish landscapes, connecting with fellow climbers, and immersing ourselves in the local culture, alike TapasBar. The friendships we built and the experiences we shared will remain with us as we continue our climbing journeys.
Conclusion:
Participating in the Climbing Erasmus Project was more than just an educational experience; it was a transformative adventure that combined personal growth, skill development, and cultural exchange. We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of this inspiring project and look forward to applying what we have learned in our future climbing endeavors.
We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who made this project possible, especially the organizers, instructors, and fellow participants. Let’s keep climbing, learning, and protecting the natural world we love!
