Project report:
The “Threads 2025 – Weaving Intercultural Futures” training course brought together youth workers, educators, and facilitators from across Europe to explore evolving practices in intercultural learning and cultural diversity. Organized by Terzo Millennio – Laboratorio di Umana Solidarietà and hosted in Lecce, a city rich in history and cultural heritage.
The course aimed to explore the evolution of intercultural learning, offering participants space to reflect on how concepts of diversity have changed over time and how they can be applied more effectively in current educational and social contexts. We were encouraged to approach interculturality not only as a professional competence but also as a mindset to integrate into daily life. The program promoted the idea of “thinking interculturally every day” and provided tools to help make that a reality.
Throughout the week we explored non-formal education methodologies, combining experiential learning, peer exchange, and collective reflection. Daily programs were diverse including hands-on workshops, thematic discussions, and group exercises designed to build skills, share practices, and strengthen teamwork. A strong emphasis was placed on participation, creativity, and learning by doing, which contributed to a lively, open, and constructive learning environment.
One of the key strengths of the training was the diversity of the group itself. Through both structured sessions and informal moments during breaks, we could exchange personal stories, professional insights, and cultural experiences, which enriched the learning process.
By the end of the training, I believe all participants had deepened their understanding of intercultural dynamics, enhanced their facilitation and engagement skills, and strengthened their ability to work in diverse and inclusive environments. More than just a professional development opportunity, the course offered a space for personal growth, cross-cultural connection, and the building of an international connection among young people in Europe.
Threads 2025 proved to be a forward-looking, enriching experience that challenged participants to reimagine how intercultural learning can be practiced and promoted—not only in their work, but in everyday life.
