Project report:

Taking part in MYTHbusters Chapter 2 has been a valuable and eye-opening experience for our Czech team. The project’s main goal was to help us think more critically, understand how disinformation works, and learn how to plan and run youth projects.

We joined many fun and interactive workshops where we learned how to tell the difference between facts and opinions, spot common biases, and understand logical mistakes in arguments. These activities gave us useful tools to better understand and question the information we see every day.

A big part of our project involved creating and leading our own workshops for the local communities. These focused on critical thinking and included a custom-made game that helped people practice spotting opinions, facts, fallacies and biases in a fun way.

We also looked at some well-known EU myths, like the funny but false idea that the EU banned curved bananas or ban on ICE. By breaking down these myths, we showed how false information can spread easily and why fact-checking is so important.

The project also taught us how to plan and manage youth initiatives. We learned how to set goals, create our own project, how to involve stakeholders, and find funding. These skills gave us the confidence to create and lead our own projects in the future.

One of our practical outcomes was making eye-catching Canva posts to fight common disinformation. These posts helped us learn how to explain complex ideas in simple and engaging ways online.

Overall, MYTHbusters Chapter 2 gave us important knowledge about disinformation and critical thinking, as well as hands-on project management experience. We’re proud to have represented Czechia and look forward to using what we’ve learned in new projects and sharing it with others.
