Project report:

It is hard to find a way how to describe journey of Czech team in the beautiful country of Denmark. It was my very first projet as group leader. I was little bit stressed about it but luckily Czech team was amazing. From 31st May to 8th July we attended project called „Can I Join You?“ organised by Copenhagen Youth Network. There were 5 people from each country: The Czech Republic, Poland, Italy, Greece, Portugal, France and Turkey.

When we reached venue, scout cabin near Copenhagen we wanted to relax after long journey. In the evening most of the participants arrived and we could socialise.

We got to know each other better over the following days and learnt about problems youth faces in each country – including alcoholism. Each country had session related to topic of project. We made a presentation and explained how strong drinking culture is in The Czech Republic. What I found interesting is that alcohol creates similar issues in all countries.  Preparation and presentation allowed us to practice English and made us more confident in foreing language.

Other day we had guided trip to Copenhagen. I think this was great idea because we could get to know each other from different side and made stronger bonds which I hope will last for long time.

From my point of view very important part of Youth Exchanges are cultural evenings. Every evening was related to 1 or 2 countries. We could taste various food and drinks from all over Europe. And ofcourse we tried to dance national dances which was very funny. I think I will never forget Polish cultural evening – typical Polish wedding where one Czech girl „got married“.

I think this project was amazing. It had something special in itself. Everything was well organised and facilitators were inspiring and open minded.

I would like to thank European Youth Centre Břeclav and Copenhagen Youth Network for this opportunity to join the project. I appriciate that I could learn more about different cultures, countries and problems which is youth faces there. It opened my eyes.
