Project report:

The Erasmus project “Goodbye Sexism!” took place in the picturesque village of Balazuc, France. This project aimed to raise awareness about issues related to gender and sexuality, with a specific focus on the LGBTQIA+ community. The project was conducted over a span of seven days, bringing together 24 participants from various countries, including the Czech Republic, Belgium, Italy, and France. The diverse group included not only participants but also essential roles such as a cook, a translator, and organizers.

The project started with team-building activities, allowing participants to get to know one another and foster a sense of unity within the group.

Activities of the project included LGBTQIA+ Education where we learned about LGBTQIA+ issues, gradually exploring each letter in the acronym, to gain a deeper understanding of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. We had discrimination workshop. An interactive session focused on understanding and addressing discrimination, promoting empathy and tolerance. Fanzine Workshop where participants created fanzines to express their thoughts on anti-sexism issues. The fanzines featured impressive artwork, including collages and engravings. The most active workshop was Image Theatre. In a unique approach, participants took to the streets of Aubenas to present scenarios of oppressor and oppressed situations to the public, shedding light on everyday instances of discrimination. My favourite activity was radio workshop. A professional radio worker guided us in producing a podcast covering a range of topics, from asexuality to interviews with participants. This provided insights into the art of podcasting. In addition, our group went on a day trip to Aubenas to explore the city’s architecture and culture.

Evenings at the project were enriched by cultural nights, where each country prepared its traditional meals, and participants shared songs from their respective cultures.

One of the most remarkable aspects of this Erasmus project was the natural beauty of the surroundings. The group stayed at a place called La Viel Audon, nestled in the valley between mountains. Accessible only by foot, it offered a tranquil and secluded atmosphere. We could choose to stay in mixed or flinta dorms, all of which provided stunning views of the nearby lake and mountains from their rooms and balconies. During our stay, we enjoyed swimming and exploring the beautiful natural surroundings, enhancing their overall experience.

The Erasmus project “Goodbye Sexism!” in La Viel Audon, France, provided an enlightening and enriching experience for the 24 participants from various countries. Through a range of educational workshops, cultural exchanges, and immersion in a beautiful natural setting, the project succeeded in promoting awareness and understanding of issues related to gender and sexuality. The project’s message of combating sexism and discrimination was effectively conveyed through creative and interactive activities.

For those interested in a unique Erasmus experience that combines learning, cultural exchange, and a deep connection with nature, EYCB comes highly recommended. This organisation not only educates but also fosters a sense of unity and global understanding, making it a valuable endeavor for all.
