Project report:

How to connect sports, food, and healthy minds? This was the main question within the project and a goal was to answer it.

The project brought together 35 enthusiastic participants from six countries: Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Italy, Slovakia. Averaging seven per country. The Portuguese team primarily served as organizers but time to time also participated in activities with us.

To break the ice, we engaged in various activities designed to help us learn each other’s names and backgrounds. These initial interactions quickly helped us to sense friendship, making everyone feel at home despite our diverse origins.

The organizers emphasized teamwork and independent thinking through a variety of tasks. They frequently reshuffled groups to ensure we interacted with different participants, promoting diverse collaboration. Although this initially felt disorganized, it became clear that the intent was to encourage independence and cooperation.

The project featured a balanced mix of outdoor and indoor activities – by their rotation it was easier to be fully focused and energetic. Some were physically demanding, while others required creativity and critical thinking. Presentations mainly led by organizing team were insightful, with topics ranging from the impact of nutrition on our bodies and minds to the benefits of various sports. One standout presentation on mental health was particularly engaging due to its interactive format, allowing for extensive participant discussion.

Beyond the structured knowledge shared through presentations, I gained valuable insights through observation. The importance of mutual support, kindness, and respect was evident throughout the project. I was continuously inspired by my peers’ enthusiasm and I had learned a lot from them as well.

The Erasmus+ project in Portugal was an enlightening experience that underscored the important relationship between sports, nutrition, and mental health. It not only provided practical knowledge but also highlighted the value of community and collaboration in promoting a healthy lifestyle.

A big thanks to the EYCB organization for making this wonderful experience possible.
