Project report:

Hey, everybody! Let’s see how my second EYCB-facilitated project called UpSkill YOUth in Luxembourg looked like!

It was a pleasure to meet people from Bulgaria, Northern Macedonia, Romania, Lithuania, Luxembourg or the Czech Republic! Above all, I couldn’t have been luckier to work with nicer and friendlier people and working with them was a great experience that boosted my intercultural and teamwork competences much higher. All the conversations we had and the experiences we had were just perfect!

This project was led by expert, talkative and always entertaining tutors Bogdan and Tibi from Romania, who surprised us with the originality of their prepared activities and the energy they gave to the learning process and the atmosphere of the whole project. This course was mainly focused on communication and teamwork, self-development and coaching others to help them achieve their goals and manage their needs. We focused on active listening, personality typologies and their recognition, communication techniques and teamwork, but in addition to this, each participant could add his/her own interest and goal, and indeed all the wishes we had set at the beginning of this course were fulfilled during the course through activities and group discussions or individual ones. The content of the course met my expectations and I could really learn what I came for. What I appreciated most was that there was a minimum of theory in the course but a maximum of practice. How to learn how to work in a team more than actually trying to do it? All activities were done in teams to practice team thinking, strategy making and action implementation. The more I worked in a team, the more I got to know my colleagues and my skills related to teamwork and communication area. After each activity there was a safe space for feedback and reflection on what we faced, what obstacles we encountered and how we resolved them as a team. Don’t worry, there is no wrong answer in this safe space, we can all come up with challenges and talk about them to improve our skills. During the course, we also had the opportunity to discuss with the Czech and Romanian ambassadors in Luxembourg and learn their journey to their current positions, as well as ask questions that were of interest to us at the moment.

The whole project was very smooth and friendly. There wasn’t a day when I wasn’t laughing, luckily there was lots of fun and activities to encourage good spirits and new friendships. We also had a lot of free time where we could travel around Luxembourg on our own or do whatever we wanted. During the course, several teams called “Angels” were formed, consisting of all the nations participating in the course and in charge of the evening activities. Each group of Angels was given a specific evening and implemented an activity based on their preferences and creativity. This gave us the opportunity to have our own space to educate others or create activities for others, so everyone became a tutor for a while.

Thank you to every participant in this amazing course and especially to the tutors who guided us all through such a memorable experience! And my huge thanks to EYCB for providing such life-changing opportunities and skill- and knowledge-enhancing experiences!
