Project report:
From March 26th to 31st, I had the chance to take part in a training course in Targoviste, Romania, focused on using art as a tool for youth engagement. Heading into the project, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but I was excited to learn about new art based methods, meet new people, and gain fresh ideas.
Throughout the week, we explored how art can be a powerful tool to bring people together, encourage participation, and fight against Euroscepticism. We got to try many theater, crafting, painting and photography sessions, each showing us new ways to work with youth. Our facilitator, Ilona, made sure everything was practical and easy to apply in our work, which made it even more valuable. (Thank you!)
One of the best things about this project was the teamwork. During all the sessions we had some really interesting discussions about European values and challenges young people face today. Since we were all from different countries, we got to hear a bunch of perspectives, which made the conversations even more eye-opening. In the end, we found out that we are facing similar problems in our communities and we learned many new effective ways of solving them.
Outside of the workshops, we also got to experience Romanian culture. We explored the beautiful town of Targoviste, tried Romanian cuisine such as papanasi, and got the opportunity to try some traditional dances with locals during the evenings. Staying at Nova Hotel was great since we had plenty of time to chat, share experiences, and get to know each other better even after the sessions.
Looking back, this wasn’t just a training. It was an opportunity to grow, connect with amazing people, and learn new ways to make a difference. Art turned out to be more than just creativity — it was a way to communicate, break down barriers, and address important issues that we would like to work on as the new generation of Europeans.
Now that I’m back home, I feel inspired and excited to put these ideas into practice. The friendships and connections we made will definitely stay with us, and I can’t wait to see how we all use what we learned. Huge thanks to the organizers and everyone involved!
