Project report:
It was my pleasure to take a part in the project “Youth Vision: a new perspective on ICL“ and travel to capital city Riga in Latvia. The project lasted from 9th till 15th of September. The venue of the project was in the small pension by the lake Ķīšezers in the beautiful nature.
I received permission to travel on 10th because I just went there from my previous project that finished on the same date.
There were 24 participants at all, 2 representants of 10 countries – Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Lithuania, Portugal, Italy, Slovakia, and Latvia. Thanks to the perfect preparation and organization of our leaders –Alice, Antonio, and Luke, we were able to create an enjoyable and well-working environment in the sessions and during the free time as well! During a day on the lake- on the pedal boats participants got to know each other better and better and thanks to many other group tasks, we had almost no problems with the group dynamic and the process of cooperation. Participants were already involved and motivated into the youth work, that made even better conditions for our group work and group dynamic.
In the next 5training days, we learned to take advantage of innovations, learn about applications for creating comics or even presentations. We used this knowledge to plan and facilitate our lesson at a local high school. We created 4 groups, my group decided to use the app for quiz Kahoot and comics. The other groups set up a different program themselves. I was satisfied with the activities at the school, but I was very surprised that the students had poor level of english language skills.
The program also included a presentation of the possibilities of youth trips, I learned of the existence of the project “Employment and entrepreneurship”. There was a presentation from girls who have passed EVS in the pass, they prepared and facilitated one hours session for us. We also played games on the topic, and there was also space for discussion. The second and third day of the stay was intercultural night – each of his country brought something.Learning about innovations was also beneficial for me because I did not know these applications, in the future, I will use them instead of a classic powerpoint. The organizers put the outputs of individual workbooks on a common facebook group. I must also commend the work of the organizers. Alice was on the command of administrative and organizational activities. Facilitators of the activities Luka and Antonio were well trained and experienced Italians who have an excellent level of English and there was no communication problem at all. Their performance and presentation of the activities were very natural and inspiring. I was one of the youngest participants on the project. We had kinda professional youth workers with so many experiences in using innovative tools and very well English. I have to admit improved my level of English and pedagogical and technical terminology.
N-go fair was also an important part of the project. I went on the project with EYCB for the fifth time. As 1 out of 1,800 young and youth workers who have participated in some project thank´s to EYCB, I can highly recommend EYCB as sending organization.
