Project report:
The euro-debate project took place in Husi, Vaslui, Romania. Three groups of nations, (with seven people in each group) consisted of Romania, United Kingdom and the Czech Republic, attended the project. It was supported by European Union exchange “Youth in Action” program.
The main purpose of the project called “Steady, Ready, Debate” was to teach the participants about the different types of debates. They especially focused on the educational type of debate and its rules. The participants worked in the international teams. Each team consistedof one Romanian, British and Czech. There were different positions within the groups. All the teams divided the roles among its members. Each team had its leader, first speaker, and the others speakers were there for supporting his previous arguments. The participants learnt about non-formal education and debated about unemployment, non-profit organizations, business and education as well. The organizers especially emphasized the teamwork. The participants learnt that they have to cooperate and that it can be useful to split the positions in each team so they can reach better results during the debates easily. They also developed other skills such as public speaking or active listening. The last day of the stay the two best teams participated in the public debate at a local high school in Husi which was really successful.
Except the debates, the participants did also several trips during the project. For example they went to Iasi which is the cultural centre in that region, and to Husi. They had the opportunity to see a different way of living, the unique architecture etc. During the stay in Pension Dobrina near Husi they experienced the other cultural habits and for example they also could try the typical national products of involved countries.
