Project report:
Hola from Spain! The project organized by the CIJ of the Ayto de Las Cabezas took place from 30.10 until 6.11. We spent a beautiful week in a typical Spanish Ranchillo farmhouse near a small Andalusian town Las Cabezas de San Juan. We worked together as a group of 15 Czech and 8 Spanish people.
The main objectives of this project were learning through experiences, getting to know different cultures, visiting natural areas and respecting nature.
We had a full program and each day there was an interesting activity, where we got to know each other better.
One of the best experiences was visiting Donana National park, exploring the city of Las Cabezas, planting trees, celebrating Halloween, visiting a rap festival and swimming in an Atlantic ocean. There was an intercultural night, where we exchanged typical Czech and Spanish food such as Paella, Churros and Jamón.
The Spanish people showed us some of their favorite songs and dances in exchange for learning Mazurka and Polka presented by the Czech team. In the end of the project we have created a video about sustainability and also a natural guide.
We have experienced a lot from the Spanish culture, found out that the Spanish lifestyle contains lots of siestas and fiestas, but on the other hand a very loose and relaxed time management which caused long waitings between activities and was sometimes a bit annoying.
The organizers Moises and Selu were very generous, friendly and caring even though their level of English wasn’t the best, which sometimes made the communication a bit difficult since a lot got lost in translation. However, we have always found a way to understand each other and we could at least improve our Spanish.
Considering that it was the very first cultural exchange of this organization, the program was really fun, interesting and successful, even though there is still a lot of room for improvement. Overall, I’m very happy to have taken part in this project. I have met many new people, explored some beautiful places and have broadened my knowledge. It was a great experience, which I will remember for a long time. And now VAMOS A LA PLAYA!!!
