Project report:

When we arrived to Ponta Delgada, the capital city of São Miguel island, Azores, it was already dark. The bigger surprise it was, when we woke up the next day. I still remember rushing up the stairs for a better view and then holdind my breath. Green paradise, in the middle of a jungle, tropical island. That’s what was on my mind. It was 17th of March and project called Love Earth just started.

Leaded by great facilitators from Pro Active Azores, we were learning about how to avoid maritime pollution. Six people from Czech republic, six people from Italy, Croatia, Romania, Greece and Portugal, working together on a manual for general public, which would teach people how to care about our oceans. We also cleaned Santa Bárbara beach one afternoon and it was a stunning experience.

We also experienced something from other cultures, as every nation wanted to present themselves in the best way possible, sharing their national food and drinks on intercultural nights. After few days on this project, you could definitively say that you are starting to be connected with people from all over Europe, starting to understand different mindsets and what is most important – that you are creating frendships with people who live hundreds kilometers away.

This was my second project and I have a feeling that is growing stronger, that youth exchanges really are changing the way how youngsters from Europe think. After every project you can feel the language barrier getting smaller and the cultural differences dissapearing.

Perfect highlight of this project was when organizators from Pro Active Azores took us for a trip in vans. They drove over the island with us, showing us the most beautiful places.

Obrigada for that! And děkujeme EYCB for making this happen!
