Project report:

On July 15, 2024, 25 participants from 9 different countries arrived in the beautiful village of Recoaro Terme in Italy. These people travelled to this place, which is surrounded by mountains and looks like it is straight out of a fairytale, in order to take part in a training called EmpowerED: Youth Citizenship Educators for Inclusive Democracy. We really enjoyed this project until its very end on July 22.

The overall aim of the training course was to train, equip and empower youth workers and young leaders, who will work with new competences in order to encourage active participation and inclusion of young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, in the context of active citizenship.

I am really glad that I had the opportunity to meet all the amazing people from Bulgaria, Czechia, Estonia, France, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Spain so that I could practise intercultural communication thanks to them and also learn something about their culture and their countries, same as about some issues they have there and how they are trying to solve them through their volunteering in NGOs.

Our gratitude goes to Maryna, who organised this whole project, as well as to the trainers Endy and Mara, without whom none of this would have been possible. They enabled us to challenge ourselves and learn as much as possible in only one week. We focussed on topics such as multicultural communication, the inclusion of minorities, along with the inclusion of disabled people, populism and the manipulation of media and gender equality. We also practised the values of the European Union and the fundamental human rights.

To conclude, this project was beneficial to all of the participants, and every single one of us has learned something from this experience, which we can spread further, educate the youth with the knowledge we have gained and encourage them to be more active.

Last but certainly not least, huge thanks go to EYCB for giving people the opportunity to participate in wonderful projects like this one.
