Project report:

From February 1st to 8th, 2026, our Czech team took part in a youth exchange titled Strengthening Participation and Human Rights in Youth Work in the beautiful Macedonian town of Bitola, together with participants from seven other countries. The main aims of the exchange were not only to deepen our understanding of human rights and youth participation, but also to meet young people from diverse cultural backgrounds, experience Macedonian culture and cuisine, and explore some of the country’s tourist destinations.

As the title suggests, the central theme of the exchange was human rights. Using methods of informal education, we learned a great deal about the challenges and issues faced by different countries in this area. It was particularly interesting to see how perspectives and approaches can vary across different participating countries. We discussed which issues we have in common, which differ from country to country, and what organizations and initiatives exist in our home countries to address these challenges. All activities were designed in a fun and engaging way, with a strong emphasis on active participation and cooperation.

In addition to the educational program, we also had the opportunity to explore the local area. One day was dedicated to a trip to Ohrid, a stunning city with a rich and fascinating history. We also visited several historical landmarks in Bitola, including a local museum, and on the final evening we attended a cabaret show, which was a memorable cultural experience.

Throughout our stay, we were accommodated in a luxurious hotel, where we enjoyed many delicious traditional Macedonian dishes and were warmly welcomed by the friendly and helpful staff.

I believe I speak on behalf of the entire Czech team when I say that our time in North Macedonia was truly unforgettable. We met many inspiring people, gained valuable knowledge, and created countless beautiful memories that we will carry with us long after the project ended.
