Project report:
In May 2026, I took part in a European Union (Erasmus+) project focused entirely on educating young people and children in the field of digital technologies. Specifically, it was a course titled “Empowering Youth Workers with Digital Tools for Intercultural Learning.”
What did we actually do?
The whole week was packed with activities where we learned to work with a wide variety of programs and tools:
- We learned web design in Canva
- We explored how AI (such as Gemini)
- we created interactive games for children and young people
But it wasn’t all about sitting at a computer and cramming through software. The whole week was interwoven with getting to know the cultures of the other participants from all over Europe. We tasted Greek food, danced traditional Moldovan dances, and through all these shared activities, we came to realize firsthand just how important integrity and interconnectedness are in Europe. We were also lucky enough to be in Cyprus right when the Famagusta Flower Festival was taking place. We saw a parade with flower-decorated floats and local communities marching in the parade.
Our task at the end of the project was to create a digital workshop for children around ten years old and then conduct it at a local school. There was always an interpreter available in the classroom, so even though some of the children didn’t speak English very well, we were able to get them involved in the program. For me personally, that was the highlight of the whole week. The chance to see the local school and the children and put the knowledge from the course to use. In our program, the children got to try their hand at being detectives and distinguishing real photos from AI-generated images.
I’m returning home with new ideas and a new network of friends from all over Europe. If you want to learn something new while meeting.
