Project report:
Project Be the exChange took place in February 2019 in Austria and focused on leadership and facilitation. Its main purpose was to help participants in developing skills which are important for being a quality group leader or facilitator at Youth Exchanges.
For that occasion, 26 people from 10 EU countries met in a youth hotel on the shore of beautiful lake Wörthersee in the region of Corinthia in southern Austria. Trainers Marco (from Brasil but living in Estonia) and Helena (Estonia) lead us through activities such as:
- learning about leadrship skills
- discovering team roles
- exploring different ways of motivation and leadership styles (both in theory and practice)
- NGO fair (where we presented our sending organizations and could exchange contacts for possible common future activities)
- discussing how to tackle possible problems at Youth Exchanges
- and preparing our own workshop (for potential youth exchanges), trying it out and getting feedback
Out of the well-structured programme, I would like to point out the oppornutinty to prepare and implement our own workshops (we did them in groups of three) and get feedback from both participants and the professional trainers. I believe lot of us will have a chance to replicate the workshops in the future for other people and spread a bit of know-how on topics such as human rights, how to meditate or how to improvise (improvisational theatre). By the way, the authors of environmental workshop established a Whatsapp group and I am still supplied by tips on how to be more environmental-friendly 🙂
