Project report:
As summer was slowly coming to an end, I knew I wanted to take part in one more Erasmus+ project before the holiday was over. While browsing through project offers, one in particular caught my eye – a project organised by the Romanian association ODEN (Organization for Democracy and Nonformal Education) called Let’s Make a Circle.
The training course was held from July 26th to August 4th in Buzau, a city that is currently developing strong practices in the circular economy. Located not far from Romania’s capital, Bucharest, it was a tempting choice even with its culture being relatively unfamiliar to me.
Our course included twelve sessions on the circular economy, in which we explored the topic from different perspectives and used diverse methodologies to engage with it. Not only did we gain valuable updates in this field, but we also learned how to adapt the topic for different age groups by using methods such as theatre, storytelling, discussion, and more.
One of the programmes I enjoyed the most was Six Thinking Hats. During this activity, we debated the topic of the circular economy from multiple viewpoints and uncovered themes we might not have considered otherwise. Another highlight was our meeting with Buzau’s mayor, during which we had the opportunity to ask about the city’s innovations in circular economy practices.
During the project, we worked in groups to compile the knowledge we gathered into articles about the circular economy and slow food in our home country. Together, we gradually created a magazine about the circular economy and this project.
Of course, Erasmus+ would not be complete without the opportunity to experience different cultures. Thankfully, the organisers were highly experienced in preparing projects, and we were introduced to Romania’s history, monuments, and landmarks. We visited one of the landmarks in Buzau County – the Berca Mud Volcanoes. We also had the chance to represent our own country and connect with others while learning national dances.
A big thank you goes to the wonderful coordinators of this project and to our home organisation, EYCB, for making this opportunity possible! Hopefully, I’ll see some of you at another project soon.
