Project report:

Hello! This March between the 7th and the 15th I and two other Czech participants had the opportunity to visit Bulgaria for an Erasmus plus training course. We were housed in a youth centre in Stara Zagora in the middle of Bulgaria. This training course was about Ecology in Media and seven countries participated with three participants from each country. Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Poland, Greece, Romania, Spain, Portugal.

The training course tried to show us how to be more ecological in our personal lives and teach us how to bring this new knowledge to our communities at home. This has started right from the first day as we have received reusable water bottles and were encouraged to carry them with us throughout the project (I am personally continuing to use mine).

The program included a zero-waste lecture with the woman who is standing behind the foundations of the zero-waste movement in Bulgaria, which highly motivated the participants especially when it came to food waste. A visit to a bird sanctuary where we met Harry the one-winged falcon which was rescued around two years ago alongside other birds that cannot be returned to the wild because of their injuries. The pinnacle of the project was us filming a report about an ecological issue in the area.

But the biggest success was that we as participants are already planning to meet each other again, soon in Poland. In Czech Republic and Greece this spring. The friendships forged at this project are strong and hopefully will stay strong still so that we can spread the message of ecology further than only our own communities.
