Project report:
Bună ziua from Romania! Imagine a week filled with inspiring discussions, creative energy, and people from nearly every corner of Europe working together for one shared goal: promoting diversity and tackling discrimination. That was my experience from week spent this July in Bușteni, Romania for the Plural Perspectives 3.0 project.
From the very first day, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Our hosts at C.O.S.I. Romania made sure we felt at home, setting the stage for formal and non-formal where we learned form a group with a fascinating mix of youth workers, social workers, educators, facilitators, and other dedicated people who have long been active in the NGO sector, all bringing their own local experiences and perspectives.
Over the following days, we explored complex topics—discrimination, stereotypes, prejudice, hate crimes, and hate speech—not just through presentations, but with storytelling, role play, and gamification that made every concept come alive. The discussions were honest and sometimes intense, but always respectful, with everyone contributing ideas for raising awareness and building inclusive communities.
One highlight was our study visit to Brașov, where we met local NGOs working on tolerance and diversity campaigns. Seeing their initiatives in action showed us how theory becomes practice and inspired us to think about what we could do back home. We also examined how different countries address discrimination, mapped out support structures, and brainstormed ways youth programmes can be used to empower young people.
The final “Creative Factory” sessions let us put learning into action- designing awareness videos and campaign ideas we could adapt for our local contexts. It was amating to see a group of strangers form into a network of motivated youth workers bringing incredibly important experiences to our home communities.
Looking back, the project achieved exactly what it set out to do – creating a strong international network and equipping us with practical tools to make a difference. For me, it was not just informative but energising—a true exchange of ideas with people committed to turning diversity into strength.
Many heartfelt thanks go to every participant, facilitator, and especially our C.O.S.I. hosts for making this such a memorable and impactful experience.
