Project report:

Tune up your instruments! Get your vocal cords ready! Five participants from Czechia traveled to Zagreb, Croatia, on July 4th to take part in the project ‘Seven Notes One Future’. It was an amazing experience with an incredible result – a 10-track music album. Italy, Romania, Croatia, Czech Republic and Bulgaria were the countries involved in the project, which concluded on July 15th.

Thanks to the fantastic organizers, Pati and Vincenzo, who prepared and managed the project. After getting to know each other, we were divided into bands, where we composed songs for the album. In the beginning, it was difficult to cooperate, but we were able to deal with that immediately. During this youth exchange we were able to speak up about future, ageism and adultism. We discussed those topics and we implemented them into our songs. Many of us had to step out of our comfort zones, when we had to perform at the concert, but it helped us to be more confident. We improved in many areas of music such as songwriting and composing. Also we got better at our level of English.

Furthermore, we experienced the cultures of the other countries that took part in the project. Tasting Italian cheese and salami, tasting sweets from Bulgaria and Croatia, eating  Romanian polenta was amazing. Moreover, each country performed a song in their native language and then taught it to the others. It was truly wonderful.

Overall, it was an amazing opportunity speak openly about age discrimination, which each of us has experienced. I believe, that we were able to get over the problem and moreover we were able to find a way to face discrimination. We are grateful for the opportunity to have our voices heard. For most of us, it is easier to express our feelings through the music. We functioned as a whole and supported each other. Thank you all for the incredible atmosphere that we managed to create. Saying goodbye was very difficult, but we all carry with us a unique memory – our album. We are looking forward to its release. I believe that our work will reach many people and inspire and support them in the fight against discrimination.

In conclusion, I would like to give a big thank you to EYCB, without whom it would not have been possible to participate in this project. Furthermore, a big thank you goes to all the organizers and participants, without whom this project could not have worked. We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of something so amazing.
