Hi! I would like to inform you about a project that took place from July 13th to 21st, 2024. The city of Trnava in Slovakia hosted the Erasmus+ project titled “Truth Troopers.” Organized by the Bratislava Policy Institute, the project aimed to provide participants with training to identify, fact-check, and effectively combat fake news.
There were five teams from different countries: the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey, and Hungary. This transformative journey was open to spirited youth workers aged 18 and above. The criteria were simple: a passion for the truth, a readiness to engage fully in the training, and proficiency in English. We grew closer through engaging activities such as ice-breakers, name games, and team-building exercises that broke down barriers and built friendships. We also experienced something from every culture during the intercultural night, sharing our traditions and stories while having a lot of fun.
We learned how to comprehend the concept and impact of fake news, recognize the characteristics of fake news articles and sources, and develop critical evaluation skills for news sources. Our presentations were interesting, and it was fun to participate in the discussions.
Thanks to the perfect organization of our leader, Inka, who was with us all the time, we received constant help and support. Because of her, we truly became “Truth Troopers”! Everything was just flawless! On our free day, we went to the Trnava Aquapark, and the next day we visited Bratislava. With many tips from Inka and Radka, we were able to see everything. Special thanks to the Erasmus+ program, the Bratislava Policy Institute, the city of Trnava, and all participants for their contributions to the success of this project.
In summary, if the EYCB didn’t exist as a fantastic group enabling many people to achieve incredible things, it would need to be created! Thank you to every individual who makes these projects possible!
