Project info:
The project Female Labour Force Participation on the Basis of Gender Equality took place in Turkey between 21st of November – 1st of December. 36 participants from 16 different European countries have met in the very special and inspiring atmosphere in really heart of metropolitan capital of Turkey Ankara. The project was organised by the K-GEM (Kadın ve Genç Girişim Merkezi Derneği) – Women and Young Enterprise Center Association with help of professional trainers from European office of Haccetepe University.
This project was about basic gender equality in women’s labour force about networking between organisations and meeting social workers and people with similar interests. More experienced social workers shared their successful projects and gave inspiration to others. Through different kind of activities based on non-formal education we have experienced how to create awareness of entrepreneurship within especially woman and young people and we have gained new perspectives on the subject.
Meanwhile, except the workshop activities we also had some time to discover interesting places of the city. Trainers with local and EVS volunteers organized trip and we had a chance to visit Anitkabir – mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder and first president of modern Turkish republic, and newly restored neighbourhood with old typically Ankara houses Hamamonu. One afternoon we also spent in campus of Hacettepe University where we have met local students thanks to outdoor Treasure Hunt game although most of them will remember us as strange crazy people who were singing John Lennon´s songs in the amphitheatre. I think all the participants really enjoyed evening’s program when national teams present their culture and traditional foods and drinks. In one week we have tasted original french foie gras, german gummy bears, english tea with milk, italian bruschetta, greek tzatziky or polish vodka… Me and my colleague Jirka we brought among all homemade apple juice and smelly cheese Olomoucké tvarůžky and we hope to arouse some interest of our new friends to visit us in Czech Republic.
