Project report:

Hello from Cyprus!

From 17th to 26th June 2026, I had the opportunity to take part in my very first Erasmus+ Youth Exchange called “Media Minds: Empowering Youth for a Digital Future”. The project took place in Pervolia, near Larnaca, Cyprus, and brought together young people from Cyprus, Czechia, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Bulgaria.

When I arrived, I was full of excitement, curiosity and also a little bit of uncertainty, because it was my first project of this kind. However, very quickly I realized that I was in the right place. I came to Cyprus with the wish to meet new people, gain new experiences, learn something useful and discover new perspectives. In the end, I received much more than I expected.

The main topic of the project was media and digital literacy. During the activities, workshops and group work, we focused on many important topics connected with today’s digital world. We discussed artificial intelligence, specifical AI tools for example for informations about vaccination and information connected with health, digital well-being, misinformation, fake news, verification of sources, searching for reliable information, sensitive data and the influence of social media on our everyday lives.

The programme was very interactive. We worked in international groups, prepared presentations, shared our opinions, solved different tasks and presented our results to the others. Thanks to these activities, we could practise English, improve our communication skills and learn how to cooperate with people from different backgrounds. For me personally, it was very valuable to see how people from different countries can have different opinions, but still find a way to understand each other and work together.

Besides the educational part, we also had many beautiful experiences outside the workshop room. We went on two full-day trips — one to Larnaca and one to Ayia Napa. In Larnaca, we visited a museum, explored the historical part of the city and then enjoyed some free time by the sea. In Ayia Napa, we discovered amazing beaches and had time to relax, talk and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere of Cyprus. These trips made the whole project even more special, because they gave us a chance to experience the country, not only the programme itself.

One of the most memorable parts of the exchange was the intercultural evenings. Each country presented basic information about its culture in an interactive and fun way. We shared traditional food, drinks, games, facts and stories from our countries. These evenings showed me how rich and diverse Europe is, but also how many things we have in common. It was a great reminder that projects like this really connect people.

Looking back, I can honestly say that this experience was amazing. I came back home happy, motivated and grateful. I met great people, improved my English, learned more about digital media and gained a stronger awareness of how important it is to use online platforms responsibly. I also realized that learning does not always have to happen in a classroom. Sometimes the strongest lessons come from discussions, teamwork, travelling and simple conversations with people from different countries.

I would honestly recommend this experience to everyone. If you have the chance to take part in an Erasmus+ project, do it. You may arrive with expectations, but you will probably leave with friendships, memories, new knowledge and motivation that will stay with you for a long time.
