Project report:
Mind the wild. Project organized by Piedzivojuma Gars placed in nice locality called Rites close to city Kegums in Latvia. Behind the name and description most of us imagined games connected with nature and survival workshops. But it was more than everybody would think…
Whole project started in city Kegums 2nd of October next to train station when people who arrived in the same time by train got instructions to find way to Rites. We were full of emotions. Someone expected journey like this someone couldn’t imagine what is behind all of this.
There were five people from each country. Czech Republic, Netherland, Romania, Bulgaria and one participant from Latvia.
First days were all about preparation for survival part of project which we had chance to try in the first trip. There were lot of group activities, constructive and trust tasks, workshops where we learnt lot of new skills like building shelters, climbing on trees, walking on slackline, orientating… We had morning and evening circles for sharing experiences and emotions with others. All program was really thought out in details and it began in early morning and ended in late evening. It was so awesome to enjoy all days with activities like that.
Another part of project was about to use what we learnt and what we practiced in real situations. Building shelter, sleeping below zero, making fire in cold conditions to have warm food, be careful in swamps and use orientation to reach our daily plan. Every group had to deal with that conditions by their own and had to think what is best for all of them.
It ended 10th of October after little rest and big party accompanied with last adrenalin activity.
All project was kind of mystery full of adrenalin activities to move beyond our borders. We didn’t know what we could expect because nobody knows what life can bring us, what unpredictable situations we have to deal with.
Huge thanks belongs to EYCB because we couldn’t experience project like this without them and also to Piedzivojuma Gars to plan entire program and giving us opportunity to see and experience outdoor situations!
