Project report:

The project ‘Social Inclusion in Action: the beauty of cultural’ took place in a small village in the center of Bulgaria called Emen. In this small village, participants from 13 countries met on August 2021 to discuss the topic of multiculturalism and social integration. The big venue of the project was very good preparation and organization thanks to Nat, Kat, and Mira and also a big diversity of participates.

The topic of the project was very complex as participants had an opportunity to learn more about different cultures, cultural identity, working with the Roma community, refugees, minorities, hate speech, and much more.

All the learning process was made by discussion, debates, workshops. Participants got an opportunity to directly discuss some topic with professionals that work in a highly regarded field or people who experienced some form of racism or discrimination. An interesting component of this training was the visit of the human library during the trip to the beautiful city of Veliko Tarnovo where participants had an opportunity to hear many interesting stories. Overall, in my opinion, the project had great success as we were shown how to get in the shoes of a disadvantaged group, learned about the situation and problem in various countries, and created a new methodology that could be used in the future.

I truly believe that attending such a project will have a recognizable impact on local communities and, hopefully, on wider society.

In conclusion, all of this would not be possible without our amazing Czech organization EYCB, Erasmus+ program, and the great Bulgarian organizers. I appreciate everyone involved in making these projects happen!
