Project report

Welcome to the Romanian story! Once upon a time 34 people from 16 different countries: Bulgaria, Belgium, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, France, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Spain, Turkey met at pension ‘Casa cu Tei’ in Sarata Monteoru. They spent time together from 10th till 19th March. They had a training course called ‘Tales Told and Untold’. The aim of the project was to provide to youth workers new methods and tools to promote tolerance and diversity and fight against discrimination of minorities objectives.

The coordinator Tolea and his team Bogdan, Fabi and Iasmina were well prepared. The agenda of the project was full of presentations, debates, getting to know each other, workshops, outdoor activities and reflection. Each day we started with energizer, then we continued with a lot of activities where we got to know each other more and more. Every time we worked in different teams, and it made us more connected. We discussed issues of minorities in our countries.

We spoke about stereotypes, political correctness, tolerance and hate. After this, we started with the creative part of the project, when we were divided into three groups: theater, video and book. The first group played forum theater, where the audience could change the story and create a new conclusion. The second group worked on a book where all participants have their own character, and the third group made two videos about refugees and tourist stereotypes. We had a lot of fun during the preparation.

Every person has talent and a creative mind, which they used. Also, to get to know each participant’s culture, there were intercultural nights where we tried traditional food and drinks from each country. In the evening, we played a lot of games, listened to music and had a party. On Friday, we moved to another city, Buzau. There, we visited the UNESCO Buzau Geopark. It was very beautiful. We saw a volcano and incredible nature.

During reflection time, we explored the city center in Buzau and visited local places. Tolea and his team prepared for surprises: the concert and the last dinner with a party. It was so kind and emotional because it was our last night together.

These days have passed so quickly. We enjoyed an unreal and unforgettable time together and had a lot of fun. We left our hearts in Romania! Furthermore, we made a lot of new friends and hope to see each other again. Thank you for this chance, for your group, and for everyone who participates in EYCB!
